This is a special itinerary of Deccan Odyssey for those who love heritage site and wildlife attractions. The tour focuses on the wildlife sanctuaries in the Western Ghats and exotic historic heritage sites like Ellora and Ajanta Caves. The trip stretches for seven nights and eight days. The trip covers Ellora caves, Ramtek, Tadoba, Ajanta Caves and the wine capital (Nasik).
The trip starts and ends in Mumbai. Mumbai has a busy international airport and the city is well connected with many other important destinations in the country via train, road and air transportation.

Maharashtra Wild Trail Tour Details

Day 1 (Saturday) : Mumbai

The tourists are requested to reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus before 3:30 pm. The check-in formalities begin immediately. A traditional Indian welcome will be provided and you will be taken to your respective cabins. After a short waiting time, the train starts its journey towards Aurangabad. Dinner is served in the train. Rest of the day is free to enjoy the amenities inside the train.

Day 2 (Sunday) : Ellora Caves

The train reaches Aurangabad by morning. After breakfast, the rest of the morning is free. After an early lunch, you will be taken on a road trip to Ellora Caves, Daulatabad fort and many others. You will be taken back to the train by late evening. Dinner is served in the train as the train stays in the station.

Day 3 (Monday) : Aurangabad

After breakfast, you will be taken on a city sightseeing tour that covers Bibi-ka-Maqbara, weaving center and other attractions. You will be taken back to the train by late afternoon for lunch. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the amenities inside the train as the train moves towards Ramtek. Dinner is served on-board.

Day 4 (Tuesday) : Pench (Ramtek)

The train reaches Ramtek by early morning. You will be taken on a game drive after an early breakfast. The park is famous for spotting deer, gaur, tiger, nilgai, wild dog, wild pig and many other animals. The park is also famous to spotting birds too. Later, you will be taken back to the train for brunch. The rest of the day is free as the train moves towards Tadoba. Dinner is served in the train.

Day 5 (Wednesday) : Tadoba

Before breakfast, you will be taken on a safari to Tadoba National Park. You can spot animals like tigers, wild dogs, spotted cats, deers, wild pigs, sloth bears and many others. You will be taken to a wildlife resort to enjoy a late breakfast. As you dine, you will be presented with a documentary on wildlife. You will be taken back to the train right in time for lunch. The rest of the day is free as the train moves towards Jalgaon.

Day 6 (Thursday) : Ajanta Caves

The train reaches Jalgaon by early morning. After breakfast, you will be taken on a road trip to Ajanta caves for sightseeing. You can find many rock cut caves and ancient sculptures here. Later you will be taken back to the train for lunch as the train moves towards Nasik. The rest of the day is free. Dinner is served on board.

Day 7 (Friday) : Nashik

The train reaches the wine capital of the country, Nasik by early morning. After breakfast, you will be taken on a walking tour along the banks of river Godavari. You can spot many exotic Hindu rituals here. Later, you will be taken on a market tour for sightseeing and shopping. You will be then taken on a road trip to a vineyard to spot many species of grapes, enjoy the wine making process and others. You will be presented with different types of wines for tasting. Later, you will be taken back to the train for lunch. The rest of the day is free. The train moves towards Mumbai. Dinner is served on-board.

Day 8 (Saturday) : Mumbai

The train reaches Mumbai by early morning. After breakfast, the checkout formalities start immediately. Later, you can choose to stay back in the city or reach airport for your departure flight.
